You are most welcome!

We are excited to introduce our newest strategic partner, THE HIVE JINJA!

The Hive Jinja is taking over the operation of Sole Hope’s guesthouse. The Hive brings experience and expertise to the hospitality industry with its newest location in Jinja. This partnership allows Sole Hope to continue to provide a safe, relaxing place to stay for its teams, visitors, and friends maintaining the same level of hospitality shown to its guests over the years. Don’t worry! You will find the same great staff taking care of you during your stay at The Hive Jinja.

The Hive will become the official guesthouse partner of Sole Hope, hosting teams and friends of Sole Hope throughout the year. In addition to serving our teams and guests, The Hive will be partnering with Sole Hope financially through The Hive Jinja.

Who is The Hive?

The Hive Guesthouse in Entebbe was started by Matthew Benjamin, a native to Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Ever since his first mission trip to Uganda in middle school, Matthew knew he was called to serve in Uganda.  While pursuing a degree at Colorado Christian University in International Business, Economic Development and Intercultural Ministry, Matthew began working for Hilton Hotels in Denver. This career path ultimately opened an opportunity for him to head to Uganda to start The Hive Guesthouse. His vision was to create a sustainable development project that would allow him to lead by example and facilitate Ugandan mentorship while providing hospitality for the missionary community. We are excited for this vision to expand in Jinja!

Why are you partnering with The Hive Jinja?

Taking care of our people during this pandemic has been a top priority for Sole Hope. We were blessed with the opportunity to partner with The Hive Jinja instead of exploring more drastic options since international travel had been indefinitely paused. This was a win for Sole Hope and The Hive in both the short term and the long term.

What will happen to the Sole Hope Guesthouse Staff?

Sole Hope has worked closely with The Hive Jinja and our key partners to protect the jobs of the guesthouse staff during this transition. We will be partnering with The Hive Jinja to continue supporting the guesthouse staff during the COVID-19 crisis, and Sole Hope has ensured that each employee working at the guesthouse will be able to resume their job when it reopens. We are excited for our staff to continue serving guests in a new way!

How does this transition benefit Sole Hope?

The partnership is definitely a win-win! Sole Hope will have the opportunity to make priority reservations for our teams before availability is released to the public ensuring guests have the same great place and hospitality when they visit. Sole Hope will also receive financial support from the guesthouse and will be able to keep our office on the guesthouse property.

Does Sole Hope plan to have their teams stay at The Hive Jinja?

Yes! The Hive Jinja is now the official guesthouse partner of Sole Hope, so all Sole Hope teams will stay with The Hive in both Entebbe and Jinja during their stays.

What amenities will be available?

The Hive Jinja is planning to still offer the same great amenities, such as family-style dinners made by Mary, a kitchen stocked with make-your-own breakfast items, laundry service & wifi. Bed & bath linens are also provided. For the most up-to-date information on the guesthouse, please visit www.TheHiveJinja.com.

What if I have a current reservation at the Sole Hope Guesthouse?

Great news!  The Hive Jinja will automatically receive your reservation and deposit payment.  You will continue to coordinate your trip with Emily (emily@solehope.org).

What should I do if I need to change a reservation due to the COVID-19 crisis?

Don’t panic! We understand that travel plans are changing due to the global pandemic. If you need to change or cancel your reservation, please contact emily@solehope.org right away. To ensure you receive the same rates next year, please plan to confirm your rebooking by September 1, 2020.

What changes can I expect with reservations?

One of the changes you will see in changing from a nonprofit to a traditional guesthouse is paying tax on your stay. For 2020 reservations that have already been confirmed with a deposit, The Hive has agreed to absorb the tax and honor your rate.  For new reservations, guests will be responsible for local taxes.

Do you offer any discounts for inclusive packages?

If you didn’t already know, the Hive started in Entebbe and is just a 5-minute drive from the airport. We have discounted packages available that include The Hive Entebbe, The Hive Jinja, and transportation services. Please reach out to Emily May at emily@solehope.org for more information regarding these packages.

Will you receive a discount when booking with Sole Hope?

When you book directly with Sole Hope, you can be sure you will get the best rates that the Hive Jinja has to offer!  Contact Emily May at emily@solehope.org to make your reservation.
