We want to extend a warm welcome to our first two Summer 2014 interns! You know they’re keepers when they arrive at 5:30am, sleep for an hour, and join us on a full day jigger removal/shoe drop. They were troopers and slipped right into their roles with unbelievable ease. I cannot wait to see where this summer takes them – they are rockstars already.

Today we introduce you to Hannah. She hails from Fort Wayne, Indiana where she goes to school at Indiana Wesleyan University. She has such a fun personality, a great taste in music, and can often be found perusing Pinterest. Here are a few fun facts about her.

Age: 19

Favorite color: Yellow

Major: Social Work – she wants to eventually live overseas

Favorite food: Ice cream and coffee

Most interesting experience so far in Uganda: Finding a lizard in her bed

Favorite season: Fall – she loves the crisp fall air and the changing leaves. Oh, and pumpkin spice lattes, “and everything pumpkin you could ever think of. And jack-o-lanterns”.

How she heard about Sole Hope: Next Step Ministries visited Sole Hope early last year to create a video series for their weeklong missions trips. She attended one of their trips in West Virginia last summer and started following Sole Hope after that.

Why she was interested in the Sole Hope internship: The Lord put Uganda on her heart two years ago. She wanted to participate in a trip here last year, but felt as though she was supposed to be in school. After seeing the Next Step videos, she thought that maybe Sole Hope was an organization that she could be involved with. When our internship posting went up, she hoped this could be apart of her future. And here she is.

We are beyond excited to have Hannah here for the summer. She has already embraced so much of the culture and people here – here’s to the next three months!
