Sole Hope Experience: Journey of Hope

We invite you to journey with us to Uganda to see firsthand the work being done. Come experience HOPE!

Sole Hope is hosting its first ever Men’s Only Experience Trip to Uganda in 2018, and we want you or the men in your life to join us! This trip is designed to give a firsthand look into the work of Sole Hope in Uganda, while offering unique opportunities to partner with our Ugandan staff in hands-on tasks and projects. Trip participants will also get to experience the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and attractions local life has to offer. This one-of-a-kind experience will leave you with a greater understanding of the work of Sole Hope and life in Uganda, a sense of accomplishment from tangible projects completed, and memories to last a lifetime. Won’t you join us?

Choose hope. Take action. Come experience hope.

*At this time we are only accepting applications for trips from those residing in the USA and Canada.  We want to encourage anyone that lives in other countries to email for more information about how you might join us in Uganda!

On this journey you can expect to:

  • Visit the Sole Hope facilities and connect with the staff

  • Participate in a Jigger Clinic

  • Volunteer at the The Hope Center

  • Explore Jinja town and the Source of the Nile

  • Get dirty (there’s nothing quite like the red dirt roads of Uganda)

Uganda has held a special place in Marcus’s heart since the first time he set foot on its red dirt roads with his wife Amy who is the Director of Development for Sole Hope. He has always been impressed with the ingenuity of the Ugandan people, the dedication of Sole Hope’s staff, and the unexpected beauty found all over the country.

Marcus lives with his wife and family in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, enjoying the perks of the life in the South: good cooking, great sports, and perfectly situated between the mountains and the beach for weekend excursions. He has worked as an licensed physical therapy assistant (LPTA) for over 20 years, and currently works for Alacare Home Health, treating patients in an in-home setting. When not at work, Marcus enjoys all-things sports and outdoors, restoring his classic trucks, and working with his hands to create custom furniture pieces. He and his wife love pouring into children and teach the pre-school class at church. You can find him most nights and weekends, reading and reppin’ a Sole Hope t-shirt.
